On December 14, 2023, as part of the visit of the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Arab Republic of Egypt with residence in Riyadh, Ulukbek Maripov, to Cairo to participate in the official ceremony of presenting Credentials to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, he met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry.
During the meeting, Ambassador U.Maripov conveyed greetings and best wishes of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zh.Kulubayev invited Minister S. Shukri to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan at any time convenient for him.
On behalf of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ambassador U. Maripov also expressed gratitude to the Government of Egypt for its assistance in the successful evacuation of four Kyrgyz citizens from the Gaza Strip.
During the meeting, Ambassador U.Maripov had a substantive discussion with Minister S. Shukri on topical issues of Kyrgyz-Egyptian cooperation, as well as prospects for their further development.
The sides paid special attention to the issues of further intensification of political contacts through the organization of mutual visits at various levels, the development of trade and economic ties and investment cooperation, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the opening of direct airlines, the development of bilateral tourism, as well as the expansion of the contractual and legal framework. There was also an exchange of views on the most pressing issues on the regional and international agenda.
At the meeting, Ambassador U.Maripov separately discussed with Minister S. Shukri the need to establish a Kyrgyz-Egyptian intergovernmental cooperation committee in the near future and hold its first meeting.
Touching upon the aspects of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international and interregional organizations, the parties discussed issues of mutual support for the candidacies of their countries to UN elected bodies. In this context, Ambassador U. Maripov appealed to the Egyptian side with a request to support the candidacy of the Kyrgyz Republic for Non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028.
The parties also outlined further steps and plans for the implementation of the agreements reached at the meeting, including the promotion of draft agreements in various fields planned to be signed during upcoming visits at various levels.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador U.Maripov assured that during his diplomatic mission he would make every effort to implement the tasks set for him by President of the Kyrgyz Republic S.N. Zhaparov to expand and deepen relations between the two friendly countries in various fields.
In turn, Minister S. Shukri, supporting the proposals voiced by U. Maripov for the development of bilateral cooperation, congratulated him on his appointment as Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Egypt and wished him fruitful work and success in his diplomatic mission.
