Rami Youssef, Assistant Minister of Finance of Egypt, stressed the importance of automating tax procedures and using uniform criteria and rules of taxation at a specialized seminar.

He also said that the system of unification of income tax criteria and rules has already brought positive results for citizens. This, in turn, prompted a review of the tax exemption threshold.

Rasha Abdel Aal, acting head of the Egyptian Tax Administration, confirmed the readiness to use artificial intelligence to facilitate tax procedures. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of the TV BRICS network.

The head of the customs department, Shahaat Ghaturi, said that the customs tariff will be adjusted to stimulate investment and industrialization.

He noted that about 85 percent of customs ports are equipped with X-ray detectors, speeding up the inspection procedure and ensuring national security at the same time. In 2023, thanks to the use of such detectors, attempts to evade customs duties in the amount of 8.5 billion Egyptian pounds (24.3 billion rubles) were successfully prevented.

Thus, automation of tax procedures helps to facilitate trade, stimulate production, support national industry, ensure the strategic reserve of the state and increase the availability of essential goods in local markets.
