Scientists from the Samara branch of the Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences have created an installation that reproduces deep space conditions to study the mechanisms of the origin of life on Earth.

According to the developers, the installation reproduces the conditions of deep vacuum of the interstellar medium, including cold molecular clouds and areas of star formation. It makes it possible to study the evolution of organic molecules in the galaxy and test the hypothesis of the origin of molecules in the reactions of space ice.

The installation, whose analogues are available only in the United States and China, has become a key element of the Laboratory Center.

Earlier, scientists of the Samara National Research University named after S.P. Korolev together with colleagues from the branch of FIAN and American physicists have developed a technique for determining planets suitable for life. It is based on the study of radiation that gives oxygen in the singlet state. Physicists determine the percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere, and thus the possibility of life on such planets. astrophysicists of the Samara branch of FIAN, scientists note.
