Victory Day Parade on Red Square in Moscow

A military parade was held in the Russian capital in honor of the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The parade began with the introduction of the national flag of the Russian Federation and the Victory Banner on the square.
Then the head of state, Russian President Vladimir Putin, addressed the participants of the march, guests and citizens of the country with a speech. After that, the audience paid tribute to the fallen war heroes and home front workers during a minute of silence.
In 2024, the leaders of eight countries attended the parade in Moscow: Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Laos, Guinea-Bissau and Cuba.
The parade was commanded by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, Army General Oleg Salyukov, and was hosted by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergei Shoigu.
The main part of the parade is a solemn procession of honor guards, as well as regiments, battalions and companies of various types of troops of the Russian Armed Forces. Students of cadet, Suvorov and Nakhimov schools, young Army men, Cossacks and female servicemen marched through Red Square. In addition, in 2024, fighters from the special operation zone joined the Victory Parade. In total, more than 9 thousand people took part in the event.
A column of military equipment followed the foot troops along Red Square. Over 70 historical and modern weapons samples were presented to the audience, including Yars strategic missile systems, Boomerang armored personnel carriers, BTR-82A and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems.
