As part of a working visit to Moscow, Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the press service of the leader of Uzbekistan reports.
The parties discussed issues of further strengthening Uzbek-Russian relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance, including the development of trade and economic cooperation.
Vladimir Putin noted the rhythmic work of the governments of the two countries and the growth of mutual trade turnover, RIA Novosti reported.
“Governments are working quite rhythmically… Our trade turnover is growing,” he said.
In turn, the leader of Uzbekistan said that all departments and prime ministers are “fixated” on trade agreements between the two countries. “They are all being fulfilled,” he said.
“This year we will develop 5 billion, we have distributed to each minister who is responsible for what. I also met with (Acting Deputy Prime Minister – head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis – ed.) Manturov, he had four questions, we solved them all on the go,” Mirziyoyev added.
In addition, Putin said that Russia is increasing the volume of purchases of products from Uzbekistan from year to year, and the increase will continue.
“We are increasing the volume of purchases from year to year … We will develop, we have already increased (purchases – ed.) over the past couple of years, there has never been such a level before,” the head of the Russian Federation said.
Mirziyoyev noted that the republic “has the opportunity to saturate the Russian market with agricultural products.”
Putin added that Russia is waiting for the supply of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan, as in 2023.
“We are waiting for fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan, just like last year. Well, it’s good for you, the sales market, and for us, since prices are still being held, prices are not allowed to rise,” Putin said.
Recall that Shavkat Mirziyoyev is in Moscow on a working visit at the invitation of Vladimir Putin. The day before, he spoke at the jubilee meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, and today he participates in celebrations on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
