“Channel One. The World Wide Web has not received prior notifications about the possible suspension of broadcasting in Armenia, although this is provided for by the agreements. This was reported by the company’s press service in response to a written request from Sputnik Armenia.
Earlier it became known that the broadcasting of the Russian First Channel was temporarily stopped in Armenia. Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan explained this by saying that Channel One had not fulfilled its contractual obligations, owing 2.5 months, which led to the temporary cessation of its broadcasting until the debt was fully repaid.
The TV company assumes that the reasons for the debt are purely technical.
“It should be noted that our company closely monitors the fulfillment of its obligations in order to prevent violations of the current agreement. After we contacted the Armenian side, today it confirmed that all payments have been received, and we are waiting for the resumption of broadcasting of Channel One in the multiplex of Yerevan in the coming hours,” the press service noted.
Earlier, on May 7, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Yerevan would block the broadcasting of Russian channels in Armenia if they did not respect the state order and the interests of the republic.
Prior to that, on March 29, the body regulating the television and radio broadcasting networks of Armenia announced the blocking of the broadcast in the public multiplex of the programs “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” and “Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” on the Rossiya 24 TV channel. The decision is explained by the facts of constant violations.
