On November 24, Russian Ambassador to Ivory Coast A.E.Saltykov took part in the closing ceremony of the chess tournament in Abidjan as an honorary guest.
Speaking to athletes and spectators, the head of the diplomatic mission noted the popularity of the game in Ivory Coast. Emphasis was placed on the successes of the Soviet and Russian chess schools, which have educated more than one generation of grandmasters, and hope was expressed for strengthening cooperation with the Ivorian Chess Federation.
