The Gorky portal has launched a project in which it is planned to publish translations of 10 short stories by modern Iranian writers. The first story: “Samovar” by Khushang Moradi‑Kermani

Students of the Institute of Classical East and Antiquity of the Higher School of Economics and Associate Professor of the Higher School of Economics Evgenia Nikitenko. All stories are published in Russian for the first time.

Most of the stories tell about the lives and experiences of Iranian women: young and old, rich and poor, living in the capital, remote villages or abroad. Some texts raise important issues for Iranian society, such as divorce, early marriages, separation from loved ones who have left the country. Among the translated stories there are humorous ones that vividly describe the relations within Iranian families.
