For the accident at the Kenkiyakneft field, which occurred in the middle of autumn this year, the Chinese subsoil user must pay almost 18 million tenge, reports Zakon.kz .

As reported by CPC, such a fine of CNPC-Aktobemunaygas was imposed by environmentalists. The oil spill occurred in October. The area of pollution then amounted to more than 3 thousand square meters. m.

A liquid leak occurred at one of the wells: water mixed with oil spilled. In addition to soil pollution, this also caused an excess of hydrogen sulfide in the atmosphere. At the same time, the company itself was in no hurry to notify the Department of Ecology about the accident. Although according to the rules, it had to be done within two hours. For such sluggishness and harmful emissions, the Chinese company was fined. In addition, the subsoil user was obliged to restore the contaminated site.

“According to the results of the inspection, a violation was revealed, according to which a decision was made to impose an administrative penalty in the amount of 18 million tenge, and a submission was also made to eliminate violations regarding the remediation program at this site.
