On December 28, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud.
The foreign ministers discussed priority issues of the progressive development of mutually beneficial diverse Russian-Saudi cooperation in line with the implementation of the agreements reached earlier at the highest level. Special attention was paid to the continuation of constructive cooperation in the OPEC Plus format.
The proximity of the positions of the two countries on topical issues of the regional and global agenda was fixed. The two sides confirmed their mutual interest in continuing close foreign policy coordination both in the bilateral format and on various international platforms.
S.V. Lavrov informed F. Ben Farhana on certain aspects of the situation in Ukraine in the context of Russia’s special military operation. At the same time, the Russian side expressed gratitude to the leadership of Saudi Arabia for its constructive position and readiness to make efforts to find ways to resolve complex problems related to the Ukrainian events.
