On November 22, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.V. Vershinin held consultations in Moscow with the Special Representative of the Secretary General and Head of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) A.S. Ivanko.
They discussed the current state of affairs and prospects for removing obstacles to a political settlement of the Western Sahara problem. Special attention was paid to the practical aspects of the Mission’s effective operation.
The Russian side expressed its unfailing support for the work of MINURSO, which plays an important stabilizing role in creating the conditions for a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable solution to the conflict on the basis of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
