Moscow, December 10. IRNA. The second meeting of the platform for regional cooperation in the “3+3” format (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia – Russia, Turkey, Iran) may take place in the coming months. This was stated in an interview with TASS by Denis Gonchar, director of the fourth Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“Currently, the organizational modalities of the second 3+3 meeting are being worked out. We hope that it will take place in the coming months. Judging by the mood of all participants, an invitation to it can be sent to Georgia,” the diplomat said.

According to him, the Russian Federation is convinced of the relevance of the consultative regional platform “3 +3” in the interests of expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between the participating countries.

“Let me remind you that during the founding meeting in Moscow in December 2021, it was decided to focus on topics of common interest – the development of trade, economic, transport, cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as the fight against common challenges and threats,” Gonchar added.

The initiative of the six-party format of cooperation on Karabakh and the issue of unblocking economic and transport ties in Transcaucasia was previously made by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Russia and Iran welcomed this idea, Georgia stated that it does not plan to participate in this regional initiative, but offers its own format of negotiations to Baku and Yerevan to maintain peace in the form of a “troika”. On December 10, 2021, Moscow hosted the first meeting of the consultative regional platform “3+3” at the level of deputy foreign ministers.
