Ural Airlines has been granted permission to operate flights from Novosibirsk to the capital of Myanmar, Yangon. This is stated in the order of the Federal Air Transport Agency dated December 27.

The order is published on the agency’s website. According to the document, the agency allowed Ural Airlines to fly with a frequency of seven times a week. In addition, the same airline received admission to routes to Yangon from Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk twice a week. So far, none of the airlines has made flights from Siberian cities to Myanmar.

In August 2022, the leader of this country, Min Aung Hline, proposed to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to open a consulate in Novosibirsk. Later, the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov reported that several Russian companies declared their readiness to carry out cargo transportation to Myanmar.

Earlier, the tour operator I-Lin Tourism announced the December launch of direct flights from Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Barnaul, Chita and Ulan-Ude to Mandalay, the “cultural” capital of Myanmar. According to an employee of the company “I-Lin Tourism”, “there was a slight hitch” and now they are looking for planes. She added: “There will definitely be no flights this year. Next year, maybe in the spring.”
