On January 12, 2023, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee M.E. Myskin, Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee A.A. Janakhmedov held a working meeting with the Head of the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use (Russian Federation) E.I. Petrov.
Issues related to the results of the XXV session of the Intergovernmental Council on Exploration, Use and Protection of Mineral Resources, the prospects for further work of the Intergovernmental Council and its interaction with the CIS Executive Committee, the formation of a working group of experts from the member states of the Intergovernmental Council to discuss current trends in the development of geology and subsoil use in modern conditions were discussed.
During the meeting, the relevance of the interaction of the CIS member states on the creation of a hydrogeological basis for the rational and balanced interstate use of groundwater in the border territories of the CIS member states was noted.
Taking into account the accumulated experience of interaction with the FSBI “All-Russian Scientific Research Geological Institute named after A.P.Karpinsky” (subordinate organization of Rosnedra), active participation of the Institute in the work of the Intergovernmental Council, an exchange of views was held on the issue of giving it the status of the basic organization of the CIS member states in the field of geology and subsoil use.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue active cooperation in the areas discussed.
